Welcome to bchadwick.com
I am Ben Chadwick, an information management professional originally from Brisbane, Australia, but currently in Melbourne.
I completed by PhD in Psychology at the University of Queensland in 2006, and my Grad Dip Information Management at RMIT in 2012. I currently work for Education Services Australia as manager of Schools Catalogue Information Service (SCIS), and am completing a Masters in Internet and Web Computing at RMIT. My previous role at ESA was on the Schools Online Thesaurus (ScOT), with Les Kneebone.
I developed this website both as a means of practicing and developing my web programming skills, and to organise and make available some of the documents I have worked on over the years.
Other features of the site include:
- A custom search interface on the documents page, including search, browse by subject and document type, and sorting by date or title.
- A string-matching feature within the search engine. Test it out -- misspell a terms as badly as you can, and see whether the search feature can find it.
- A mobile-optimization feature that detects mobile device access and modifies styling accordingly
- User behaviour tracking: A log is kept of pages visited, time spent on pages, and referrer
I love feedback. If you have any comments or suggestions, or just want to say hello, please contact me.
